Copper and its various alloys, brasses, bronzes and cupronickels present a range of challenges for the welder. Welding of the pure coppers requires some experience because of the difficulty in melting of copper due to its high thermal diffusivity. Each of the copper alloys presents their own difficulties.
The correct selection of the shielding gas and appropriate filler metal is essential to ensure a strong, defect free weld.
