Company History

The concept of brazing consultancy was founded in 1985 by Dr Peter Fell, who previously worked as a project metallurgist for Rolls-Royce plc.

Vacuum Brazing Consultants Ltd was formed as a company in 1991 and initially concentrated on the manufacture of nickel based braze alloy powders and pastes. By 1993 VBC Ltd had diversified it's range of alloys and services to include that of precious metal based braze alloys and had become the leading UK braze alloy supplier to the Aerospace and Electronics Industry.

In 1996 VBC Group Ltd was created to embody a new division which was a collaboration with Dr. David Harvey, an international authority on Aerospace welding wires. The welding division (formally known as VBC Eclipse Aerospace Ltd) rapidly became the UK's leading Aerospace grade welding filler metal supplier and holds the exclusive sole contract for welding consumable supply into Rolls-Royce plc.

We are able to supply the whole range of welding filler metals in Titanium, Aluminium, Nickel, Cobalt, Steel, Superalloy and speciality grades in wire form, and have developed our own range of specialist titanium alloys that were formally only available as 'razor wire' ie strips cut from sheet.

In 1999 VBC Group Ltd formed a third division VBC Instrument Engineering having acquired an engineering company that specialised in bespoke mechanised welding positional equipment.

Being privy to our Customer needs and frustrations having difficulty welding crack sensitive materials, VBC undertook an extensive programme of electronics R&D and successfully invented a unique and proprietary technology heat management power source which we call the VBC InterPulse. The VBC InterPulse has now been successfully used to solve a number of client problems and has been installed in a number of global market leading blue-chip companies.

VBC Group Ltd is unique in the extent of the products and services we can offer, and the knowledge that we have gained for their correct use. Our fully qualified metallurgists and engineers are continually developing and innovating new processes and alloys to meet future fabrication demands of new materials such as single crystal, ceramics and composites.
